Youth Working Group in the Alpine Convention

Would you like not only to talk about environmental and climate policy, but also to play an active role? Then apply for the Youth Working Group in the Alpine Convention!

For the German Presidency of the Alpine Convention in 2027/2028, the JDAV is setting up a working group of 15 young people who will engage in expert discussions on biodiversity, climate protection and sustainable development in the Alpine region, while bringing young perspectives into political processes.

Your Tasks

  • Work in the Youth Working Group in the Alpine Convention

  • Familiarisation with topics relating to the Alpine Convention

  • Develop positions and demands

  • Exchange views within the bodies of the Alpine Convention, with experts and political stakeholders

  • Help shape further participation formats for young people

  • Take part in events and publications

Who Are We Looking For? Young people under 27 who are interested and have the time to get involved in the Youth Working Group in the Alpine Convention. Prior knowledge is not required. As the Alpine Convention is an international programme, good English skills are an advantage, but not a requirement.

If possible, you can already get involved at the launch event. Please register for that separately from your application. The initial meeting of the working group will take place on 30.10./01.11. in Munich . You should definitely be available for this. The working group’s activities consist of online meetings as well as individual weekend appointments on site. You also engage with the substance of the Alpine Convention and exchange ideas with network partners outside of the working group meeting.

It is important to us to include different perspectives and experiences. We therefore particularly welcome applications from people with varied backgrounds and lived realities.

Costs: For young people living in Germany, the costs incurred are covered by funding from the Federal Environment Agency. Travel costs can be reimbursed.

Project period: August/September 2026 to March 2028
